A giant forest full of tall trees. It is full of prey, one of the best places to hunt. It is also a great place to come for a walk of just to be alone.
Willowpaw ran in, just ahead of Tundrastep. "I win!" she announced, turning to face him, her sides heaving. "I learned a little bit of fighting and hunting in my old Clan," said Willowpaw. "But it got destroyed by a fire, and I don't know if you have any special techniques or whatnot." The happy expression faded from Willowpaw's face, and her eyes were wide and round, like green moons. She sat in fron of Tundrastep. "I'd prefer hunting," she said, "but you're the mentor, so you decide." ~Willowpaw
Tundastep sat calmly, and flexed his shoulded, remembering the day he had tripped into a rabbit-hole carrying a clanmate back ta camp and badly broken his leg/shoulder area. "We'll start with hunting." he meowed. Try to copy my movements exactly." he got into a hunter's crouch, his teath gritted in pain from his bad shoulder.
Willowpaw noticed this. "Are you hurt?" she said, coming over to him. "You look like you're in pain. I don't think we should be training. What happened?" Willowpaw said this all very fast. ~Willowpaw
Tundrastep got out of the crouch. "Its just a past ingury. I had to carry a hurt clanmates back to camp, and I fell into a rabbit hole and broke my leg pretty badley."
Willowpaw pushed up against her mentor in a gesture of friendly affection. She crouched down and executed it perfectly. "That I do know how to do. How about to spare your shoulder, you just tell me what to do and I'll do it." Willowpaw beamed, waiting for his answer. ~Willowpaw
Willowpaw frowned. Quickly, silently, she stalked to the other side of the thistle patch, waiting, knowing that the pretend mouse would come out. Suddenly, she pounced. Standing up, she looked at Tundrastep. "Is that what you would do?" she asked him quizzically. ~Willowpaw
"Thank you!" Willowpaw purred, happy to have done well. "Can I learn some fighting moves?" she asked. "Cause I have no idea how. Will your shoulder be up to it? Fighting is a sport that requires contact..." Willowpaw trailed off. ~Willowpaw
"Oof!" Willopaw tumbled to the ground, where she lay in a tangled heap. Quickly, she got to her feet, shaking the dust from her pelt. "How did you do that?!" she exclaimed. ~Willowpaw
Tundrastep smiled. "Practice. I had to re-train myself after my shoulder injury. I could no londer fight normally, an this is just as fun." His eyes sparked with miscief.
Willowpaw shivered. She stood stock still for a while, knowing what was going to happen. When she saw Tundrastep relaxing, she dashed up a tree, racing up its trunk as fast as if she was running on the ground. She hid in the leaves, and watched Tundrastep looking for her. Silently, quickly, she slipped from tree to tree via branches until she was in a tree behind Tundrastep. She took a deep breath, gathering strength in her haunches. She leapt, pushing all her strength into it. She landed squarely on Tundrastep, sending both of them to the ground. "I call that my Stealth Drop," Willowpaw announced triumphantly, gently latching herself onto Tundrastep's soft, furry back. ~Willowpaw
Tundrastep shook her off. "Good." he meowed, trying to sound positive, but his teath were clench ing pain. "Curses shoulder." he muttered undeer his breath.
Willowpaw noticed this, and suddenly, her triumphant expression vanished. "Oh, no!" she said. "Are you okay? I didn't think! I forgot about your shoulder! Did I rebreak it? Maybe we should get back to camp, have Sparrowfeather look at it. Oh no oh no oh no!" ~Willowpaw
Tundrastep sighed. "Its fine, Willowpaw. Your a strong fighter, just next time, try to avoid damaging clanmates." he joked. He layed down on his side, taking the weight off his shoulder. He panted heavily.
Willowpaw frowned. "I think we're done for today. Come on." She pushed Tundrastep toward the camp. "You need to see Sparrowfeather. My sister can help you." ~Willowpaw
"Sorry," said Willowpaw quietly. "I'm being an idiot. We can continue training, if you want." Willowpaw padded silently beside her mentor, sorry for annoying him. ~Willowpaw
Willowpaw crouched, still as stone. Suddenly, she lunged forward, sailing low over the ground before she landed perfectly on her feet. "Was that good?" she asked. ~Willowpaw
Willowpaw purred. She stayed absolutely still for a long time, and then she leaped quickly out of her hiding place and onto a rock, pinning it with her claws. ~Willowpaw
Willowpaw laughed. "I think I've had enough for today. I want to get some exploring of the territory done, if you don't mind," said Willowpaw, hoping she didn't sound obnoxious or impudent. ~Willowpaw
Willowpaw nodded. "I'll go back to camp and ask Jackalhowl or somebody," she said, wanting to meet more of the Clan. "See ya!" she told her mentor, racing back to camp. ~Willowpaw

Tundrastep nodded. "Patience and creativity are the key. There are many ways, but it requires some free-thinking. Good job." he smiled.

Tundrastep shugged. "If I couldnt fight, I wouldnt have an apprentice, now would I?" he asked. "We'll start with a free-style mock battle."
ReplyDeleteWillowpaw purred. Freestyle sounded fun. She launched herself at Tundrastep, expecting to land on his back.

Tundrastep rolled oout the way surprisingly quick. He swepted her fet out from under her, and rolled to his feet.

ReplyDeleteWillowpaw nodded. "I'll go back to camp and ask Jackalhowl or somebody," she said, wanting to meet more of the Clan. "See ya!" she told her mentor, racing back to camp.
